Partnered by apprentice Jackie Berriman, and given an absolute peach ride in the National Apprentice Riders Race at Sandown yesterday,Triple Crown Syndications'Wild Fire (Sebring ex Seamstress) dominated his opponents, winning the 1200m event in impressive style.
Typically
swift from the gates,Wild Fire missed the kick from a wide alley and
found himself toward the tail of the field on the Hillside track. Accustomed to
racing up on the speed, he settled well for young Berriman who rode
for luck and gradually began to track up along the inside rail. Taking the
shortest route around the home turn Berriman then directed the
4YOSebring gelding through a minimal gap and he showed the turn
of foot with which his followers are very familiar.
Unable to be caught by his opponents down the straight,Wild Fire crossed the line3.75 lengths ahead of his nearest rival, Sir Mask, collecting a further $21,000 prizemoney for his Triple Crown owners.
"He recorded a final sectional of 32.29 seconds for the final 600m of the race," Triple Crown Director Michael Ward reported.
"If you can rattle off those sort of sectionals you're going to be extremely hard to beat.
"We're all pleased with his effort, it was very impressive and I think we have plenty more fun ahead of us with this horse."
Wild Fire has now won 3 races from only 11 starts and has also finished two very close second places. His owners have shared in over$67,000 in earnings, and have banked thrilling winning memories sure to last a lifetime. The entire team can't wait to see him at the track on race day again.
