UK Juvenile Winner for Lonhro

Tara Madgwick - Monday March 30
Champion Australian racehorse and sire Lonhro has been shuttling to Kentucky for Darley in recent years with his first two year-olds racing in the Northern Hemisphere this year, but interestingly his first winner has come in the UK rather than North America.

LonhroBred by Darley and trained by Mark Johnston, two year-old filly Rah Rah made a winning debut over five furlongs on the all-weather track at Kempton Park last Saturday, dashing clear to win by three and three-quarter lengths.

"She is pretty smart. She jumped a little green and she was having a bit of blow afterwards, so there will be improvement to come," said her rider Franny Norton.

UK Racing Post also offered an encouraging assessment - A half-sister to a Listed-standard winner in France, Rah Rah showed an ideal combination of early pace and an ability to see the race out. She strode out powerfully in the straight to make a likeable winning debut and has the scope to go on from here.

Foaled in the UK, Rah Rah is the first Northern Hemisphere bred winner for Lonhro and is a half-sister to Group III placed Decathlete from Group II placed Rahy mare Rahiyah.

Lonhro has 13 entries for the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. Click here to see them.
