Fee Set for Turffontein

Media Release - Tuesday March 31
The 2015 service fee for exciting young stallion Turffontein has been set at $11,000 including GST.

A multiple Group One winner himself, Turffontein is already siring multiple Group winners with just two crops of racing age so far. In fact his progeny have already won six stakes races in the current racing season!

Turffontein

In a year littered with successful young stallions like Medaglia d'Oro, I Am Invincible, Manhattan Rain, Nicconi, Denman, etc., no second season sire has more stakes wins than Turffontein and only Medaglia d'Oro has more individual stakes winners.

Fontein Ruby - Grant CourtneyFrom Turffontein's first crop came current 3YO Fontein Ruby (Pictured) who is just as tough and as genuine as they come.

After winning the VRC Edward Manifold Stakes (Gr2) and the MRC Autumn Classic (Gr3) last Spring , Fontein Ruby's win in last Friday nights MVRC Alexandra Stakes (LR) shows that she is right on target for the upcoming SAJC Australasian Oaks (Gr1). Fontein Ruby has so far won five races from 1200 to 2000 metres and $880,370 in stakes.

Turffontein has only had four runners from his second crop but amongst them is the brilliant two year old Fontiton.

A completely dominant six length winner of the MVRC Inglis Banner (RL) on WS Cox Plate day, Fontiton came back in the Autumn to win the MRC Blue Diamond Preview (Gr3) followed by the Blue Diamond Prelude (Gr2) before starting an undefeated short priced favourite in the Blue Diamond Stakes (Gr1). She came out of that race a little the worse for wear suffering heat stress and a joint injury so her effort to finish a fighting fifth was still first class. She will be back in the Spring as a 3YO, bigger and better than ever.

Sales results for a stallion with progeny of racing age go hand in hand with racetrack performance. Turffontein's third crop yearlings have this year fetched up to $170,000 with two colts and a filly both realising over $100,000. All these wonderful results point to Turffontein representing terrific value in 2015.
