Winner
of the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes in 2009, Exceed and Excel stallion
Reward for Effort is off to a promising start to his stud career with his
talented daughter Montana Star scoring a bold win at Doomben on Saturday.
Trained by Start Kendrick, Montana Star had a win and two seconds at her
previous two runs and made light of the heavy conditions to lead throughout and
win over 1350 metres by a length.
Retained to race after passing in at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Montana
Star is the first winner for unraced Galileo (IRE) mare Sister Livia, who comes
from the family of Group I winners Flavour and Sonntag.
One
of five winners for Reward for Effort, she has already won $80,000 in prizemoney and looks a nice filly for the future.
Reward for Effort has 15 entries for the 2015 Inglis VOBIS Gold Sale on April
19 and 20.
