The reigning Champion Sprinter in Singapore, Zac Spirit jumped well from gate three
for John Powell and always travelled like a winner, forging clear to win the
1200 metre sprint by three quarters of a length in 1min 9.93secs.His trainer Cliff Brown said the son of Flying Spur had improved significantly compared to last year when he won the same race on his way to capturing the Group 1 Lion City Cup (1200m) and running third in the Group 1 KrisFlyer International Sprint (1200m), the same two targets he has again been set upon this year.
"He's done a great job under the weight. I would say he's more mature physically and mentally this year," said Brown.
"He takes a lot of work and it would not have been possible without my team, from the syces, to Chris Bock, Tim Fitzsimmons, who work on him 24 hours. They deserve all the credit.
"JP put him in a good spot from the start, though it is always a worry if he will get through. But he was in great order and he did it like the good horse he is.
"The Lion City Cup and the KrisFlyer remain his main goals this year."

his stakes-winning three-quarter brother Zac Influence.
