Expected
demand for the progeny of ill-fated Darley shuttler Street Cry (IRE), who died
at the very height of his commercial appeal last year at age 16, materialised
early at Newmarket during the first session of the Inglis Australian Easter
Yearling Sale.
Consigned for sale by Newgate Farm, Lot 4 by Street Cry (IRE) from Group II
winner Kosi Bay sparked spirited bidding before being secured by leading
bloodstock agent Guy Mulcaster, the bloodstock mastermind behind the all-conquering
Chris Waller stable.
Guy Mulcaster purchased Monday's Group I ATC Doncaster Handicap winner Kermadec
in New Zealand as a yearling for $260,000, making him the most expensive
yearling by Teofilo (IRE) sold in 2013, so he can certainly find a good type that can run.
This filly had an impressive pedigree update as her dam is a half-sister to
this season's slick two year-old Fireworks, winner of the Group II ATC Widden
Stakes.
She is also free of Danehill blood, so will be an appealing broodmare prospect
to mate one day should racetrack success come her way.
Street Cry has an impressive draft to be offered at this sale and will be sure
to make a big impact at the top end of the market given the limited edition
nature of his offspring.
