Barbara Banke's Stonestreet Stables and Kenny & Lisa Troutt's
WinStar Farm have launched the official website for their Kentucky Derby
contender Carpe Diem.
The responsive site can be found at www.SeizeTheDerby.com , and it currently
features a two-minute video about Carpe Diem's quest from over a year ago when
he topped the OBS March sale at $1.6 million, up to his win in the prestigious
Blue Grass Stakes (G1) at Keeneland on April 4th.
"Whether it's through our website or social media channels, Stonestreet strives
to share current news about its stars," said Banke. "With WinStar, we will
bring you into our magnificent colt's journey to the Kentucky Derby, as we launch
Carpe Diem's SeizeTheDerby.com website."
SeizeTheDerby.com will chronicle the next 16 days of preparation for the
multiple Grade 1-winning son of Giant's Causeway leading up to Kentucky Derby
141, with exclusive access and features that include diary-style videos,
photos, interviews, social media, and more.
Undefeated in 2015, Carpe Diem enters this year's Run for the Roses as one of
the favorites under the tutelage of trainer Todd Pletcher, who won the 2010
Kentucky Derby with WinStar's Super Saver.
Carpe Diem began his 3-year-old campaign in March with a five-length win in the
$350,000 Tampa Bay Derby (G2), and followed it up with a three-length victory
in the $1 million Blue Grass. Last year at two, Carpe Diem won his debut at
Saratoga in September before capturing the $500,000 Breeders' Futurity S. (G1)
at Keeneland by 6 ¼ lengths in just his second start. The striking chestnut
colt holds a record of four wins from five starts, with his lone defeat coming
in the form of a good runner-up effort in last fall's Breeders' Cup Juvenile
(G1).
Out of the multiple Grade 1-producing Unbridled's Song mare Rebridled Dreams,
Carpe Diem has earned $1,519,800 to date.
