Pasadena Girl Leads Inglis Charge

Media Release - Sunday April 19

Champion trainer Peter Moody is no stranger to Group 1 success with Inglis Graduates, and today he witnessed juvenile filly Pasadena Girl bloom into the stable's next star.

Pasadena Girl (Savabeel x Nina From Pasadena)won the $400,000 Group 1 ATC Champagne Stakes in dominant style over 1600m, earning her third win in just four starts and taking her prizemoney past $450,000.

Pasadena Girl - Lisa GrimmBred by Graham and Helen-Gaye Bax of New Zealand's Blandford Stud, Pasadena Girl was a $25,000 purchase from the Eliza Park draft at the 2014 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale for Peter Moody who has had a tremendous Sydney Autumn Carnival.

Moody is clearly taken with his 'little gem' and admits she has revealed her talent long before he expected.

"When I purchased her I probably expected her to be going to the races this time next year, so she has surprised us," said Moody

"She's got an unbelievable attitude towards racing. She is a Flight Stakes or a Thousand Guineas filly, but she continues to surprise so anything is possible," Moody said.

Four of the last five Group 1 ATC Champagne Stakes winners that were sold as yearlings were sold by Inglis, including Champion Samantha Miss.

Pasadena Girl will be out to follow the footsteps of Samantha Miss who completed the Champagne Stakes/Flight Stakes double.

Hugh Bowman couldn't be happier with his first race ride on the filly, and is looking forward to seeing her career progress.

"I think as a three-year-old we can expect big things from this filly," said Bowman.

"I'm very appreciative of the Moody stable to get the opportunity to ride her for them," Bowman said.

Hi World, also trained by Peter Moody, notched up his fourth win in seven starts, leading all the way to win the $150,000 Group 3 ATC Frank Packer Plate on the closing day of the Sydney Autumn Carnival at Royal Randwick.

Hi World (High Chaparral x Beauty World), which failed to meet his reserve of $75,000 at the 2012 Inglis Broodmare and Weanling Sale when offered as a weanling from the draft of Coolmore Stud, has now earned over $290,000 for his connections.

This is the second consecutive Group 3 win for the three-year-old following his victory in the ATC Carbine Club Stakes on the first day of The Championships.

"He is a nice colt, he is an exciting proposition and he got the job done nicely again," said Moody.

"He has got good improvement in him and he is still quite immature. He will only go on from here," Moody said.

The2015 edition of the Inglis Broodmare and Weanling Salewill be held over four days on 3, 4, 5 and 6 May featuring a bumper catalogue of 884 Lots.

Fitocracy (Denman x Reine de Jeu)trained by Jon O'Connor earned some valuable black type taking out the Group 3 SAJC Schweppervescence Stakes at Morphettville. Bred and sold by Attunga Stud, Fitocracy was a $15,000 purchase from the 2013 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, and has now earned over $120,000 for her connections.

Other stakes results from Inglis graduates today were Pearl Star at Morphettville and Politeness at Caulfield.

Pearl Star (Star Witness x Pearl Of The Sea)marked the second stakes winner for Widden Stud's young sire Star Witness in as many weeks, taking out the Listed SAJC Dequetteville Stakes. This is the first win for the Matt Laurie-trained two-year-old, who purchased her from the Widden Stud draft at the 2014 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale for $105,000.

Politeness (Street Sense x Berengari)notched up her third stakes-win when taking out the Listed MRC Bel Esprit Stakes for Robert Smerdon and Aquanita Racing. Bred by renowned breeder Anne Raymond, Politeness was a $115,000 purchase from the 2012 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Sledmere Stud.
