Fifth Stakes Winner for Denman

Mark Smith - Sunday April 19

Denman filly Fitocracy pulled off a $31 shock in Saturday's Group III Schweppervescence-Auraria Stakes (1800m) at Morphettville earning a chance in the $400,000 Group 1 South Australian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville.

The Jon O'Conner-trained filly had gone winless in nine starts since successful at Morphettville at her second career start back in May last year.

Ridden by Tod Pannell, Fitocracy came with a barnstorming finish to edge out Melbourne visitor Kansas Sunflower (Mastercraftsman) by a short half-head with Choix de Maia (Choisir) two and a half lengths back in third.

A $15,000 purchase from the Attunga Stud draft at session two of the 2013 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Fitocracy (pictured as a yearling) is the first foal of the 3-time Sydney winner Reine De Jeu (Anabaa) a half-sister to the Group II-placed Sunnah and to the dam of Group III ATC Adrian Knox Stakes winner Full Of Spirit.

Reine De Jeu's dam Quiz Queen (Defensive Play) is a half-sister to Group 1 NZ Derby winner St Reims (Zabeel) and dual Group 1 winner Champagne (Zabeel).

Reine De Jeu missed the following two seasons after the birth of Fitocracy.

She has a weanling colt by Star Witness and was bred back to Not A Single Doubt last spring.

Fitocracy becomes the fifth stakes-winner for Darley Stud's Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes winner Denman who covered 180 mares last spring at a fee of $33,000.
