When you're offering a full sister to Aussie bred South
African sprint star Alboran Sea in foal to Sepoy and a cracking draft of 12
weanlings by leading commercial sires, you know there will be some busy inspection
days coming up at Newmarket in preparation for the 2015 Inglis Australian
Weanling and Broodmare Sale starting this Sunday.
Leading Victorian vendor Three Bridges Thoroughbreds are offering Lot 493 as
agent for Snow Road Thoroughbreds, four year-old Rock of Gibraltar (IRE) mare
Pink Jubilee in foal to Golden Slipper winner Sepoy in her first season at
stud.
This appealing young mare got the best pedigree update possible when her younger
sister Alboran Sea nailed her third Group I victory when beating older
sprinters to win the Computaform Sprint over 1000 metres at Turffontein on
Saturday.
The best sprinter in South Africa this year, Alboran Sea is likely to have
another run in South Africa before her trainer Mike de Kock looks at global
options for the superstar filly.
Three Bridges will also offer some terrific weanlings, all 12 entries accepted into
the newly created Platinum Section for weanlings with x-rays. See the draft here.
"Congratulations to Inglis on their new 'Platinum x-rayed only session', as it's
a great new initiative that certainly gives the purchaser more confidence in
buying and as we all know, knowledge is power – especially in this game," said
Toby Liston.
"All of our weanlings are Super VOBIS eligible, which is a fantastic plus for
pinhookers and becoming increasingly important with every sales season.
"We like to bring quality well grown weanlings to this sale that will stand out
on type and this year's draft is no exception."
The draft features weanlings by Bel Esprit, Casino Prince, Charge Forward, Fastnet
Rock, Foxwedge, Helmet, Snitzel, Stryker, Star Witness and Wanted.
"The Snitzel x Tangerine Dream colt (Lot 32) is a lovely horse, a very correct
Snitzel and will develop into a lovely yearling. As a half-brother to Group I
winner Pear Tart, he will certainly get you into any yearling sale in the
country," said Liston.
"Proven sire weanling buyers will also be impressed with Lot 11, the Charge
Forward x Raquia colt that carries the terrific Charge Forward x Flying Spur cross that has been so potent."
Two colts by resident sire Stryker from La Viscomtessa (Lot 115) and More Than
Pronto (Lot 135) will also be popular.
"Both Stryker colts are very nice and we couldn't be happier with the way their
sire is going," said Liston.
"He's had two second place-getters over the last few days, both horses showing
plenty of promise and his talented daughter Strykum is heading for a stakes
race in Adelaide this weekend for team Freedman."
Fourth at her only start when sent out hot favourite and pulling up shinsore
last December, Strykum might be a good tip for the weekend!
