Headed
back to Coolmore Australia this spring, exciting young Dansili sire Zoffany (IRE)
posted his second winner overnight at Naas when Argentero scored impressively
on debut.
He looked another high-class first-crop runner for Zoffany when overcoming
trouble in running to score running away by three and a quarter lengths in the
six furlong maiden.
"The word I'd use to describe this horse is professional from the first day he
came in. Everything we asked him he did it," said winning trainer Ger Lyons.
"I told Colin (Keane) to take his time and teach him his job. He handled that
ground but would want better ground.
"Obviously at this time of the year you'd be thinking about Royal Ascot, and hopefully
he's one of those. I'd like to go for a winners' race next with this fella.
He'll learn plenty from that with all the hustle and bustle he got into between
horses."
Argentero was bred by Maywood Stud and cost £50,000 as a yearling. He is the
second winner for Frabjous, an unraced Pivotal half-sister to Group I winner
May Ball.
Argentero is the second winner for Group I winning juvenile Zoffany following
on from Washington DC, who won last week.
Zoffany returns to Australia this year at a fee of $8,800.
