Westbury Announce Fees

Media Release - Tuesday May 5
Dubawi's Champion son Makfi will head the roster of stallions at Westbury Stud in 2015 at the unchanged fee of $17,500+GST for the upcoming season.

MakfiThe sire of the Group 1 winner Marky Mark, who will be a leading contender for the title of New Zealand's Champion Two-Year-Old, couldn't have started better with his first crop runners in the southern hemisphere and there are great expectation towards next season knowing the improvement the breed make from two to three.

The Joint Topweight 3YO and Miler on the World International Rankings in 2010, Makfi has not only produced the Group 1 winner Marky Mark, but has been represented by the stakes placed debutante Sofia Rosa, the promising colt Massa Lu and the Lisa Latta trained Miss Fi; while there are numerous trial winners and promising horses across a number of leading Australasian stables waiting to embark on their three-year-old season.

Makfi has also begun his northern hemisphere season in excellent style with the dual stakes winner Cornwallville, and the stakes performers Astrelle, Czar, Make Believe, and Zvarkhova among his first crop runners.

Reliable ManThe Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Reliable Man will also remain at last years' service fee of $15,000+GST and heads into his third season at stud off the back of two outstanding books of mares numbering 130 and 150 in his two seasons to date.

Among the mares covered by Reliable Man are Triassic (dam of So You Think), Artistic, Keepa Cruising, Lotteria, Pravda, Chuckle, Innovation, Magic Belle, Miss Scarlatti, Zingo etc.

A Group 1 winner in both hemispheres, Reliable Man defeated the Triple Crown winner It's A Dundeel, Happy Trails, and Silent Achiever when posting his Group 1 victory at Randwick and has delighted breeders who have bred to him with the quality of his first crop foals making a very good impression and the demand for his weanlings privately been very satisfying with a view to the future.

High Chaparral's Group 1 winning son Redwood and the Oakleigh Plate winner Swiss Ace will have their fees unchanged in 2015 with both listed at their 2014 fees of $10,000+GST.

Redwood made an excellent impression with his first yearlings in 2015 where they sold up to $210,000 and have found their way into some of the best stables in Australasia including Peter Moody, Joe Pride, Liam Birchley, Henry Dwyer, Michael Freedman, Donna Logan, Graeme Rogerson, Graeme Sanders, David Haworth, Alan Sharrock, Graham Richardson, Chris Wood, Stephen Autridge, and Karen Zimmerman.

Swiss Ace has enjoyed an excellent season with his first crop of three-year-olds, posting Group winners on both sides of the Tasman while he has made a great start in Asia with impressive winners in Hong Kong and Singapore.

In New Zealand Swiss Ace has been represented by high class sprinter Passing Shot who took out the Group 3 Mr Tiz Trophy and was narrowly beaten in the Group 2 Wellington Guineas, while his talented son Huka Eagle ran Volkstok'n'barrell to a head and was then Group 1 placed in the Levin Classic, and his daughter Starlight Angel has won 2 of her 4 starts and earned a black type placing early in her career.

In Australia Swiss Ace has had limited runners, but his daughter Mywayorthehighway is heading the way with a decisive victory in the $150,000 Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate in December, while in Hong Kong Athena Baby has been his sole representative and won his last two starts in succession. In Singapore Clip the Ticket, Federer, and Scout Done have all looked well above average in their careers to date.

Postponed and Red Giant will stand at very competitive fees in 2015 with both listed at $5,000+GST for the new season.

Postponed has enjoyed an excellent run of form in recent months with his daughter Consensus winning the South Island Filly of the Year title after her victory in the NZ Bloodstock Airfreight Stakes, and quality horses like Postboy, Lamarosa, Happy Agility, Hollywood Lad, etc. racing prominently.

Red Giant is a son of Giant's Causeway who found his best form as a late three-year-old and as a four-year-old, at which time he set a world record over 2000m on turf.

Red Giant's eldest crop are now three and like their sire are appreciating the opportunity to mature and are expected to make good improvement as the likes of Red Striker, Platinum Command, De Kensington Oval, Realta, Beauty Giant, Elvera, A Red Prince, Tip of Borneo have shown.
