Australian
bred two year-old Lineker became a new winner for promising young sire Star
Witness when he saluted on debut at Scottsville in South Africa on Wednesday.
Trained by Justin Snaith, Lineker cruised clear to win the 1200 metre maiden by
three parts of a length.
A $50,000 Magic Millions purchase for Paul Lafferty from the Widden Stud draft,
Lineker is the second winner for South African Group I winner Battle Maiden
(Zim), who has a weanling Star Witness colt to follow.
Lineker is the sixth winner for Star Witness and is his second in South Africa joining
the stakes-placed Mella Maria.
Star Witness stands at a fee of $22,000 at Widden Stud this spring.
