Second Stakes for Not A Single Doubt Gelding

Mark Smith - Saturday May 23

Making his first start in over three months, the Kelso Wood-trained Into The Red pulled off a $17 upset with surprising ease in Saturdays' $100,000 Listed Landfill Logistics Ascot Handicap (1200m) at Doomben.

Under a rails hugging ride by Ryan Wiggins, Into The Red came away to defeat the rank outsider Bymonashee (Monashee Mountain) by two and a half lengths  with the favourite Delectation (Shamardal) a half-length back in third.

It was the second stakes win for the son of Not A Single Doubt coming nearly 18 months after his first in the Listed Gold Edition Plate at Doomben back in 2013.

The 4yo gelding advances his overall record to 3 wins and 4 seconds from 19 starts for earnings of $237,250.

Consigned to the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale by Goodwood Farm, Into The Red (pictured as a yearling) was knocked down to bloodstock agent John Foote for $100,000.

He is the seventh foal and seventh winner out of the unraced Clay Hero mare Red Sequin a sister to Listed Kilmore Cup winner and Group 1 Goodwood Handicap second Czar Hero and to the dams of 4-time Hong Kong Group 1 winner Beauty Flash (Golan) and New Zealand triple Group 1 winner Maroofity (Maroof).

Red Sequin died in August last year. She has a 2yo Duke Of Marmalade (IRE) colt named Jon Dear and her final foal is a yearling filly by Myboycharlie (IRE).
