Entries Open for Inglis Ready 2 Run

Media Release - Tuesday May 26

Following a tremendous Inglis Select Yearling Sales Series entries are now being welcomed for the select Inglis Ready2Race Sale, presented by The Star, Sydney.

In a short period of time The Star Ready2Race Sale has established itself as THE auction source of quality two-year-olds in Australia, as evidenced through this season's outstanding 2YO Group 1 performed graduate Odyssey Moon and Asian juvenile victors Super Dragon and Genius.

"Odyssey Moon is a prime example of the quality produced The Star Ready2Race Sale, he was breezing up on the grass at Canterbury in September, sold in October, winning a stakes race at Randwick in December then was the only horse to compete in each of the three legs of the two-year-old triple crown, highlighted by his second to Pride Of Dubai in the Sires' Produce Stakes," points out Mark Webster, Inglis' Managing Director.

Odyssey Moon Odyssey Moon was a successful pinhook by a group of friends headed by Adam Cook, who bought the son of Snitzel for $25,000 from the 2014 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale with the idea of putting him through The Star Ready2Race Sale. Scone trainer Rod Northam prepared Odyssey Moon for The Star Ready2Race Sale, then following the colt's sale to James Harron Bloodstock for $120,000 Northam was approached to continue training the youngster.

"He was a typical Snitzel with a lot of presence. We focused on short sharp gallops which had him well educated for a strong breeze up in Sydney. We made a quick earn, but to then get the colt to train for James and his clients Belinda and Edmund Bateman was a win-win for me," said Northam.

Odyssey Moon has won $435,250 in his two-year-old season and Northam has big plans for the colt's classic year saying "Odyssey Moon is due to come back into work in the next few weeks and we'll be aiming him at the Caulfield Guineas at his fourth run this preparation."

In addition to being the only Australasian breeze up sale to produce a two-year-old stakes winner this season The Star Ready2Race Sale is also the only sale of its kind to produce juvenile winners in both of the major breeze up markets of Singapore and Hong Kong in 2015.

Muskoka Farm bred and sold Genius has earned over S$110,000 since last year's sale after being prepared by Kranji trainer Leslie Khoo for a win last month then a strong finishing second placing in the Singapore Group 2 Aushorse Golden Horseshoe.

In Hong Kong the auspiciously named Super Dragon saluted on 3 May in a Griffin event for trainer Me Tsui, who purchased the youngster for $170,000 out of last year's Ready2Race Sale from the draft of Princes Farm, after the colt passed-in at the Easter Yearling Sale earlier in the year.

"Whether vendors are looking to pinhook yearling sale purchases into the sale, offer horses they have bred, or prepare juveniles that might have been withdrawn or passed-in at yearling sales, The Star Ready2Race Sale is proving to be the best breeze up platform for success at the elite level," adds Webster.

0% Pass-In Commission will be offered at the 2015 The Star Ready2Race Sale, which will feature breeze ups in early September on the quality grass tracks at Cranbourne (VIC) and Canterbury (NSW).

Sires of rising 2YO colts already committed to The Star Ready2Race Sale include Redoute's Choice, Exceed And Excel, Sebring, Stratum, O'Reilly, Choisir, I Am Invincible, Hussonet, Not A Single Doubt, Magnus, Turffontein, Hinchinbrook, Charge Forward, Husson, Dream Ahead, Star Witness, Love Conquers All, Zoffany , Helmet, Master Of Design, Canford Cliffs and So You Think.

The select sale will be conducted on Tuesday 6 October 2015 to maximise the availability of buyers from Australia and Asia to attend the auction in Sydney.
