A barrier
trial winner for Chris Waller last September at the start of spring, it's taken
a while for More Than Ready (USA) colt Feast for Eyes to find the winner's
circle, but he did so today when bolting away to win as he pleased.
Sent straight to the front by Jim Cassidy, race fitness and experience told the
tale when he controlled the race and dashed away to win the 1550 metre contest
by nearly four lengths.
He relished the longer trip to win his first race from five starts and holds an
entry to the Group I BRC JJ Atkins over 1600 metres next month.
A $250,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Baramul Stud draft,
Feast for Eyes is bred to be well above average as a half-brother to three
Group III winners in Saint Encosta, Sheer Talent and Kittens.
He is the fourth winner from five foals to race from St Katherine, a
half-sister by Barathea (IRE) to Group I winners Bonanova, Telesto and
Fraternity.
St Katherine died last year and has just one Snitzel weanling filly to come.
Feast for Eyes is the ninth Australian two year-old winner this season for
champion sire More Than Ready, who stands at Vinery Stud at a fee of $66,000.
