In Foal to Frankel

Two mares offered at the 2015 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on Thursday in foal to one of the world's most exciting sires Frankel have both been sold selling for $850,000 and $550,000.

RostovaGroup I winning Testa Rossa mare Rostova was offered by Newgate Farm and sold to the bid of Tim Stakemire on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum for $850,000.

Rostova has had three previous foals for her former owner SF Bloodstock, the first two, fillies by Fastnet Rock and More Than Ready (USA) selling for $400,000 and $550,000, but none have been to the races.

The other mare in foal to Frankel was Australian bred South African stakes-winner Lovetorn, who made $550,000 for Glastonbury Farm when knocked down to the bid of China Horse Club.

It's probably no surprise that international investors bought both mares given the profile of Frankel, whose offspring may well be better suited in the Northern Hemisphere.
