Second Stakes-Winner for Canford Cliffs

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 29
24 hours after siring his first stakes-winner Painted Cliffs, Royal Ascot hero Canford Cliffs (IRE) was at it again with his talented filly Most Beautiful taking out the Group III Grangecon Stud Stakes at The Curragh.

The David Wachman trained filly was ridden forward by Ryan Moore to sit up in second and then forged clear to win the six furlong sprint by three-quarters of a length, her second win from three starts.

Canford CliffsShe beat subsequent Royal Ascot winner Waterloo Bridge (by Zoffany(IRE) at her previous start, so is obviously a smart filly in the making.

"She did it well. She travels well but she was still a little weak inside the final furlong. We´ve no real plans just yet. She´s in the Phoenix Stakes but we won´t be in a mad rush," said David Wachman.

Purchased for 120,000 guineas from the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Dermot Farrington, Most Beautiful is the first winner for stakes-winning Cape Cross mare Saphira's Fire and is one of six winners for Canford Cliffs, who is due to return to Blue Gum Farm this spring at a fee of $13,750.

His first yearlings sold for up to $150,000 at the sales this year and to see who bought them click here.
