Vinery Stud and China Horse Club have combined to purchase a major stake in an unbeaten Group One winning two-year-old this season.
The two operations have jointly purchased a 50 per cent stake in Press Statement, last start winner of the JJ Atkins Stakes (1600m) at Eagle Farm.
The colt will remain in training with Chris Waller who compared the son of Hinchinbrook favourably with two of his other Group One winners in Brazen Beau and Zoustar.
"He is a very talented colt" Waller said in a statement. "He won the Group 1 J.J. Atkins very comfortably, the same race Zoustar and Brazen Beau both ran second in,
"I believe Press Statement is a better horse now than they were at the same stage and I think he fits the mould of being a superstar colt."
Bred and raced by Tony and Gianna Muollo and Con and Fotoula Hadjiparaskeua, Press Statement is a half-brother to Pressday, who also won the JJ Atkins Stakes when it was run as the TJ Smith.
Press Statement won on debut over 1100m at Canterbury and then won over 1350m at Rosehill before winning the JJ Atkins and Vinery Stud's Peter Orton feels he has untapped potential.
"Press Statement is undefeated as a two-year-old, winning all three of his starts including a Group 1 - a great start for any young colt," Orton said.
"It is, however, the potential improvement that we can see in this colt that is most exciting."
