When the Chris Waller-trained Vanbrugh resumes at Rosehill on Saturday he will be attempting to be the third Sydney winner in a month descended from the mare Professionelle.
Waller is keeping it in the family as he also trains close relatives Mr Darcy, a debut winner at Canterbury last week, and Lucy's Look, a winner at Rosehill in May.
A daughter of champion sire Centaine, Professionelle was a modest runner but has excelled at stud with 10 winners from her 10 foals to race, four of them stakes winners with 11 stakes victories between them.
Sportsman (Supremo) won four times at Group level including the Peter Pan Stakes. Prisoner Of Love (Canny Lad) won the Group II Tea Rose Stakes, Hoystar (Danzero) won the Group III Frederick Clissold Stakes and King Of Prussia (Anabaa) the Mimosa Stakes at Flemington and now a stallion.
Three of Professionelle's daughters have thrown metropolitan winners.
Smytzer's Rose (Danehill) is the dam of Melbourne winners Anais and Anjea as well as her three-quarter siblings Soho Secret (Lucky Owners) and Anything But Love (Flying Spur).
Vanbrugh is by Encosta de Lago out of Soho Secret, who won a race and finished fourth in the Group III Silver Shadow Stakes.
Already a metropolitan winner, scoring at Randwick in February, Vanbrugh finished fifth to Tarquin in the Group II Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at his only other start on March 14.
Vanbrugh is pictured below as a yearling.
Mr Darcy (Authorized) and Lucy's Look (Lonhro) are both bred and raced by Brian Agnew out of Anything But Love.
Lucy's Look won the TAB Rewards Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on May 30 and Mr Darcy showed his spring potential with victory on debut last Wednesday over 1100m at Warwick Farm.
The 15th foal of Professionelle, a colt by So You Think - pictured below - sold for $70,000 at the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale and is to be trained by Brent Stanley.
She missed to Pierro in 2013 and was covered last season by Your Song.
