Timo shines on debut in Singapore

Darryl Sherer - Saturday July 4

Australian-bred Timo made an winning debut in Singapore with an impressive victory at Kranji on Friday.

The son of I Am Invincible accelerated clear of his rivals early in the home straight of the Restricted Maiden (1200m), scoring by two lengths in the time of 1:09.68.

Timo (3 g Lolly Lover) won two Barrier trials in South Australia as Titanium Dragon and trainer Shane Baertschiger told the Singapore Turf Club website he was confident of victory.

"I expected him to win tonight," Baertschiger said.

"The plan was to lead but he missed the start. So the way he managed to come from the back and win the race was pretty impressive."

Baertschiger feels Timo will get better over a longer trip, but is in no hurry to test it out.

"He seems to be asking for more ground but I am not going to increase the distance yet as he's still a big baby."

I Am Invincible stands at Yarraman Park Stud in New South Wales and leads the Australian Second Season Sires list by number of winners with 57.
