Described by John O'Shea as a great favourite among the stable
staff, 5-year-old gelding Haussmann opened his stakes account at his 34thstart in Saturday's Listed Civic Stakes (130m) at Rosehill Gardens.
Christian Reith scraped the paint along the rail on Haussmann
who needed all favours to edge out the stubborn pacesetter Two Blue.
Haussmann (Commands) defeated the Kristen Buchanan-trained
Two Blue (Dubleo) by a half-neck with 2-1/2 lengths back to Joe Pride's See The
World (Daanzero) in third.
"We'll bring him back here in a fortnight, we've got Macca
(James McDonald) riding back in town, he's trying to win a premiership so we'll
see if we can give him a hand," O'Shea said.
In earning his first
stakes win, Haussmann advances his record to 7 wins, 5 seconds and 6 thirds
from 34 starts for earnings of $406,452.
The son of Commands was pencilled in to be sold at the 2013
Magic Millions National Racehorse sale but gained a reprieve.
His dam Wynciti was culled by Darley 2011 Inglis Easter
Broodmare sale for $10,000.
A talented daughter of Citidancer, Wynciti won four Listed
stakes races in Sydney.
She has an unraced 2yo filly by Musket named Tree Huggen
Hippy, a yearling filly by Heritage named Cooper's Jewel and a weanluing filly
by War Chant.
Wynciti was bred back to Frost Giant (USA) last year.
Haussmann becomes the 67th stakes-winner for
Darley Stud's Commands (pictured) who died in July last year.
