Not the best to begin for Peter Hall, Cosmic Storm looked in danger of not securing a run when sandwiched between horses. When Hall angled to the outside 250 metres out, the daughter of Street Sense (USA) wore down leader Fo' Shizzle to win by three-quarters of a length with India Pacific back in third.
In winning her third consecutive race, Cosmic Storm advances her overall record to 3 wins, 1 second and 1 third from 6 starts for earnings of $172,700.
I was trying to save ground and ended up following a horse I didn't want to follow," Hall said.
She's done an excellent job and I'd like to think there's more improvement in her.
She got beaten in her first couple of maidens then came to town to win a mid-week then a Saturday. She really dug in for the fight there, I thought she was peaking a hundred out and she found a way to win."
Winning trainer Grant Williams said it was the culmination of a very good season.
"She was fit and healthy but I thought Keysbrook would be very hard to beat to be honest," Williams admitted.
Cosmic Bomb is the fourth foal and third winner out of the top-class Metal Storm (FR) mare Stormy Nova whose seven wins included the Group III Ernest Lee Steere Classic and Group III Champion Fillies Stakes.
She has a yearling brother to Cosmic Storm named Royal Command and a weanling filly by Sebring.
Stormy Nova was bred back to Sebring last spring.
Cosmic Storm becomes the 35th Stakes winner for her sire Street Sense (USA) (pictured).
While Street Sense (USA) no longer shuttles, Darley will be standing his best son Hallowed Crown in the forthcoming season.
