Nutan ran out the dominant winner of Sunday's Deutsches Derby (2400m) at Hamburg with Australian-owned Shimrano a major disappointment.
The Peter Schiergen-trained Nutan raced near the speed, set by Koffi Prince in the early stages, with Shimrano held up towards the rear.
Into the home straight Andrasch Starke drove Nutan into the lead and accelerated clear, allowed the luxury of easing at the finish to defeat Palace Prince by five lengths with Fair Mountain a further 1 3/4-lengths away third.
Shimrano, who started the pari-mutual favourite, was unable to come on in the straight and finished 11th, beaten 10-lengths.
Nutan was beaten 1 1/2-lengths by Shimrano when third in the Group II Oppenheim Union Rennen (2200m) at Cologne at his previous start and was winning at stakes level for the first time.
Bred and raced by Juergen Imm, Nutan is the 21st stakes winner for Duke Of Marmalade, who now stands at Drakenstein Stud in South Africa having commenced his stud career under the Coolmore banner in Australia and Ireland.
Nutan is the second classic winner this year for his stallion following the Prix de Diane victory of Star Of Seville.
He is also the second Group I winner for his dam Neele, a daughter of Peintre Celebre and a sister to Oaks d'Italia winner Night Of Magic, following the Grosser Preis Von Berlin heroine Nymphea, also by Duke Of Marmalade.
