Thoroughbred breeding is building momentum in the state of Victoria and a
further positive step has been announced today.
James, O'Brien, President of Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria (TBV) said the TBV
committee has appointed former government racing adviser Patrick Clancy as
Executive Officer.
"As TBV's new Executive Officer, Patrick will be central to promoting Victoria
as the very best place to breed high quality thoroughbreds. He will be working
with the TBV committee, members and supporters, Racing Victoria, other industry
organisations as well as governments to ensure we keep moving forward," Mr
O'Brien said.
"Patrick has a comprehensive understanding of the importance of racing and
thoroughbred breeding in Victoria and is a valuable addition to our industry.
"As a former senior adviser to the Victorian Premier and Minister for Racing,
Patrick worked closely with organisations across racing including with TBV. He
has built a considerable network in racing across race clubs, representative
bodies and other key organisations.
"TBV particularly noted the work Patrick undertook in government to establish
VOBIS Gold, now a cornerstone of the growth in Victorian breeding and racing.
"He also played a key role in helping TBV and its national body, Thoroughbred
Breeders Australia, gain important wins in the area of taxation and exports to
China.
"Patrick is a passionate racing fan, an excited part-owner of a pair of
Victorian bred horses and I am sure will make a strong contribution to the
growth of thoroughbred breeding in Victoria.
"Patrick looks forward to meeting TBV's members and supporters and discussing
with them their thoughts about how to deliver a bright future for the
industry."
