Golden Rose Goal for Manhattan Rain Winner

Entered for the $1million Group I ATC Golden Rose in September, two year-old Manhattan Rain gelding Man of Choice took the easier option of heading to Kembla on Saturday for the Luke Price stable and emerged with a win.

Man of Choice was fifth on debut at his only previous run at Warwick Farm back in March behind Redzel, with Saturday's impressive Rosehill winner Japonisme second in the same race.

Man of Choice as a yearlingGiven time to find his feet back in the field by Peter Wells, Man of Choice powered home from near last with a long sustained run to score a very impressive long neck win over a handy field of 13.

A $60,000 Magic Millions purchase for Realrosy Pty Ltd from the Newhaven Park draft, Man of Choice was foaled and raised at Newhaven Park for Wilkes Thoroughbreds and Galaxy Breeding Syndicate.

Man of Choice is the second winner for metropolitan winning Redoute's Choice mare Moonsong, a daughter of Group I placed Moon Magic from the family of Group I winners Ofcourseican, Gimmethegreenlight.

Interestingly, he is the third winner from seven runners for young Encosta de Lago sire Manhattan Rain that are bred from mares sired by his half-brother Redoute's Choice.

Moonsong is due to foal this spring to Newhaven Park's promising young sire Delago Deluxe, another son of champion sire Encosta de Lago.
