Business as Usual for Canford Cliffs

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 27
The amazing winning run in Europe for Blue Gum Farm shuttler Canford Cliffs (IRE) continued at the weekend with his seventh winner in eight days arriving overnight at the Carlisle meeting with a debut victory for Silhuette.

The Anne Duffield trained filly battled hard to land the spoils, scoring a neck win in the six furlong maiden.

Canford Cliffs"Silhuette is a nice filly. She was a bit green but I liked her attitude, she wouldn't let the other one beat her," said Duffield.

Silhuette rounded off an unforgettable few days for the leading first-season sire that kicked off with Al Shaqab Racing's newcomer Al Jazi and Pitou scoring at Maisons-Laffitte the previous Sunday.

Last Monday, the David Elsworth-trainedJustice Lass took a Windsor maiden, the next day Poplar Close won for David O'Meara at Musselburgh while on Wednesday, Cuppatee prevailed for Mick Channon at Catterick.

The purple patch continued when the Richard Hannon-trained newcomer Wall Of Fire won at Ascot on Friday.

Canford Cliffs now has 16 winners on the board.

A five-time Group I winner Canford Cliffs returns to Blue Gum Farm at a fee of $13,750 and will have his first Australian runners in the new season.

Canford Cliffs covered 83 mares in Australia last year and among those mares was Black Caviar and All Too Hard's dam Helsinge, who is due to foal to the promising young sire later this spring.
