Tenth Winner for Dream Ahead

Media Release - Monday August 3

Dream Ahead (USA) is now the sire of 2-year-old winners in four different countries following the victory of Robben Island in Germany on Sunday.

Dream AheadA US-bred daughter of Emirates Park's freshman sire sensation, Robben Island lined-up for a 1300-metre event at Frankfurt and was never to be headed after taking the lead shortly after the start. A professional front-running performance saw the talented filly score by a one-and-a-quarter lengths winning margin, with a further six lengths separating the runner-up and the minor placegetter.

Robben Island became Dream Ahead's 10th individual first-crop 2-year-old winner in the northern hemisphere. Progeny of the world-class sprinter has now won in all four of the major thoroughbred racing jurisdictions of Europe — namely England, Ireland, France and Germany.

Robben Island was bred by the very prominent international thoroughbred concern SF Bloodstock and catalogued for the Keeneland 2015 January Horses of All Ages Sale but withdrawn. She is the first foal of Split Trois, a Group 3 juvenile winner in France by Dubawi.

In little more than a week, Dream Ahead has been represented by 2-year-old winners at Newmarket, Windsor, Redcar and Nottingham in England, and now Frankfurt in Germany.

The Emirates Park-owned stallion is comfortably placed amongst Europe's leading First Season Sires of 2015, his impressive tally of individual winners having been achieved with virtually half as many runners as most of his contemporaries.
