Leading
New Zealand nursery Waikato Stud are responsible for the 'One to Watch' on
Tuesday with an impressive debut win for a son of their former champion sire O'Reilly.
A homebred for Waikato Stud, the Hawkes Racing trained four year-old gelding
Bullrush was sent to the post a red hot favourite for the 1100 metre maiden at
Goulburn and won as you would expect.
He stalked the leader and forged clear to win by two and a quarter lengths in a
dominant performance.
Bullrush is a half-brother to Group II winner Sports Illustrated from Pin Up, a
stakes-placed half-sister by Pins to champion miler and successful sire
Starcraft.
He is bred on a very successful nick as O'Reilly and Pins have combined in the
pedigrees of 10 stakes-winners.
