The owners of New Zealand Horse of the Year Mongolian Khan have publicly
welcomed prospective partners to share in the ownership of the leading
Melbourne Cup prospect.
Mongolian Khan has won seven of his nine starts and over $2 million under the
sole ownership of the Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Industry (NZ) Ltd with the
highlights being the New Zealand – Australian Derby double last autumn.
Those achievements were further recognised when Mongolian Khan became the star
of the New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Awards function in Hamilton on Thursday
night, picking up the Champion Three-Year-Old award, the Champion Stayer award
and the New Zealand Horse of the Year title, while Mr Lang Ling's Inner
Mongolia Rider Horse group also won the Owner of the Year award.
Mr Lang believed the function was an opportune time to announce his exciting
ownership offer in Mongolian Khan.
"We want to share him with everyone so we have decided to syndicate him and let
all the new shareholders be part of the exciting times ahead and enjoy the
thrill of having a leading Caulfield and Melbourne Cup contender," said Mr
Lang.
"We have had interest from a lot of studs in Australia to stand him there when
he retires, but we want to keep him in New Zealand. I realise Mongolian Khan
not only belongs to us but also all of New Zealand."
Shares in Mongolian Khan will include two life-time breeding rights to him each
season
It is an innovative move to have shares available in the current New Zealand
Horse of the Year and Mr Lang is looking forward to welcoming new owners into
his favourite horse.
The Inner Mongolia Rider Horse has become a major buyer of New Zealand-bred
horses, exporting more than 800 to China within the last three years, and is set
to further increase its interest in New Zealand racing. – NZ Racing Desk
