Cambridge
Stud's promising young sire Tavistock has already made a big impression in
Australia through the likes of Volkstok'n'barrell and Werther with this maiden winner
at Ballarat on Thursday likely to follow in their footsteps.
The Mick Price trained colt Tarzino was third on debut last month, but
appreciated a step up in distance for this 1400 maiden.
He wound up late to snatch a head win over the favourite Red Alto and can only
improve for the experience.
Running for a big group of stable clients, Tarzino is entered for the Melbourne
spring majors and the Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes in Sydney.
A $60,000 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale purchase for his trainer from
the Yarraman Park draft, Tarzino was bred by Cambridge Stud and fetched $45,000
at the NZB Select Yearling Sale in New Zealand before heading to Australia.
He is the first winner for Zarzino, a sister to Group II winner Respect and
half-sister to Group I winner Kindacross from the family of triple Group I
winner Sky Chase.
