Seven Group 1 winners expected to line up but none can match the four wins at the highest level earned by the Chris Waller-trained Boban.
The son of Bernardini (USA) had his best season as a 4yo winning the Group I Epsom Handicap, Group 1 Emirates Stakes and Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes.
He looked a shadow of his old self last season as a 5yo, failing in the Epsom Handicap, Expressway Stakes, Apollo Stakes and Chipping Norton Stakes.
Many thought he was due to retirement but Boban rose like Lazarus in Brisbane during the winter.
In a testament to the genius of his trainer, Boban added a fourth Group 1 to his resume with a barnstorming victory in the Doomben 10000 before finishing second behind the smart Srikandi in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap.
Boban contested last year's Memsie Stakes clocking in fifth, beaten about 3.7 lengths behind Dissident, Sweet Idea, Puissance De Lune and Silent Achiever.
A $100,000 purchase from the Millbrook consignment at the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale, Boban is the tenth foal and only stakes-winner out of the 1886 AJC Australian Oaks heroine Kenbelle.
The daughter of Kenmare has a 2yo colt by Epsom Derby winner Authorized and yearling brother to Boban. She missed to Bernardini in 2013 and was covered by the son of AP Indy again last year. When she did not go if foal, Kenbelle was covered by Spirit Of Boom. Unfortunately the 22yo mare slipped.
While Boban has been the poster boy for Bernardini (USA) in Australia, the Darley stallion also has the Group 1 ATC Champagne Stakes winner Go Indy Go and the Auckland Diamond Stakes winner Ruud Awakening as well as the multiple Group II winner Toydini.
