Milanova,
the most expensive broodmare ever sold in Australia at public auction, has left
a winner in Ireland with three year-old Galileo colt Los Barbados saluting at
Wexford on Saturday.
Placed twice in three previous runs, the Aidan O'Brien trained Los Barbados made
no mistakes this time around with blinkers on for the first time, clearing out
to win the one mile and three furlong contest by 11 lengths.
He is the second winner for Milanova, but is her first bred in the Northern
Hemisphere.
Milanova was bought by Coolmore for $5million at the 2008 Inglis Broodmare Sale
from a dispersal of Tyreel Stud stock and was sent back to the Northern
Hemisphere.
A Group III winning daughter of champion sire Danehill, Milanova is a full
sister to dual Group I winner and successful sire Holy Roman Emperor (IRE), who
is back in Australia for Coolmore this spring.
This is also the family of champion Australian sires Encosta de LAgo and Flying Spur as Milanova is a grand-daughter of celebrated matriarch Fanfreluche.
