Winners Flow for Golden Snake

Media Release - Sunday September 20

It has been a good start to the new season for the reliable Golden Snake, a multiple Group One winner has proven the perfect stallion for the owner/breeder.

And he has two particuarly promising types in the shape of Blue Viper and Olivia's Gold.

Golden SnakeA grandson of the terrific mare Bourverie Mist, the Henry Dwyer trained Blue Viper lined up for just his second start at Kilmore last Saturday - finding the line in the style of a horse on the up.

Getting back and striking trouble at the 700m, the chestnut switched off the leader's heels with 150m to go and chased gamely, taking the lead with 50m to go and finding plenty.

Owner/breeder Andy Rylance was delighted with the win having been patient with the four-year-old who "has just needed a bit of time."

"He has always had a bit of size about him and his trainer has said from the start that he would win races for us."

A fan of the Danzig sire line, Rylance chose Golden Snake for his mare Bourverie Blue having noted that he could get tough and classy gallopers - "I saw Gilded Venom race in Perth and was a fan of Hissing Sid and all he accomplished," he said.

It was a winning weekend for Golden Snake, on Sunday Olivia's Gold again in winning form, the Andrew Dillon trained four-year-old tough to the line at Geelong - this success her fourth from just eight starts.

Other Golden Snakes in form include Peculatus, who led throughout at Mildura last month, and fellow on-pacer Cheval du Jour who looked good breaking his maiden at Bairnsdale.

A four times Group One winning son of Danzig and the outstanding broodmare Dubian, Golden Snake - a member of the prolific Lady Josephine family - stands at Ridgeview Park Stud, Muskerry East.

Golden Snake, who earned the title of Champion Middle Distance Galloper in France, was afforded a Timeform rating of 127, the same as Melbourne Cup hero Fiorente - showing just what a high class galloper he was.

He is the sire of 142 winners from just 254 starters and he has proven his worth siring stakes winners in both hemispheres including the local Group One winner Gilded Venom and the Group One European mare Quiza Quiza Quiza.

He currently has a number of nice horses racing across the globe, Accomplished (full brother to the dual Gr.3 winner Super Gold) a winner in Singapore recently whilst seven-year-old Apache Gold has been in good form in Ireland.

Golden Snake's runners earn an average of over $41,000 making him great value for the owner/breeder looking to produce a tough, durable racehorse.
