Stakes Potential for Mr Manhattan

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 5
A half-brother to smart stakes-winner Dublin Lass, promising Manhattan Rain gelding Mr Manhattan made it three wins from six starts when posting an eye-catching return from a spell at Warwick Farm on Monday.

Prepared by Joe Pride, Mr Manhattan powered to the line to win the Benchmark 72 sprint over 1000 metres by more than a length.

Mr Manhattan as a yearling"He's a proper horse this bloke," Pride said. "He's a really serious horse.

"You saw today ridden off the pace what he can do. It's onwards and upwards for him.

"I can see this bloke really going through the grades."

Mr Manhattan was passed in shy of his $100,000 reserve when consigned to Inglis Easter by Luskin Park and runs for a big syndicate that includes his breeders Paul Whelan and Wilf Mula , who also tasted success at Muswellbrook on Monday where their eight year-old gelding Goldstone won the $35,000 Denman Cup.

Dublin Lass and Mr Manhattan are the first and second foals of lightly raced Elusive Quality (USA) mare Fashion Police, a grand-daughter of Group II winner Fine Recipe from the family of Group I VATC Blue Diamond winner Midnight Fever and Group I VRC Australian Guineas winner Rock Classic, who was also bred and sold by Luskin Park.

Fashion Police has a two year-old filly by Starcraft that fetched $200,000 at Inglis Easter to the bid of Hawkes Racing and has foaled this spring producing a filly by Snitzel.

Fashion Police has since been covered by Redoute's Choice and is positive at her first scan..
