At
this time of year when Godolphin produce a colt entered for the Victoria Derby that
wins his maiden by seven lengths we want to know more.
At Kyneton on Thursday, three year-old Street Cry (IRE) colt Tally shook off
maiden status in emphatic style when romping away to win as he pleased over
1850 metres.
He led throughout as a short priced favourite, quickly atoning for two second
placings at his previous two starts.
Trained by John O'Shea, Tally is the sixth winner for stakes-winning import Itemise (USA), who was second
in the Group I AJC the Metropolitan, so staying the Derby trip should not be an
issue on pedigree.
Itemise was on-sold by Darley last year for $41,000 at the Magic Millions
National Broodmare Sale and has since produced a colt by Bernardini (USA) for
her new owners Ladyship Lodge and will foal again to the same sire this spring.
