Mossman Filly Opens Stakes Account

Mark Smith - Saturday November 28

Consistency was rewarded for the 5yo Mossman mare Telepathic who opened her stakes account in Saturday's Listed Tyreel ATC Cup (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Ridden by James McDonald for champion trainer Chris Waller, , Telepathic finished strongly to defeat Lucky Lucky Lucky by one and three-quarter lengths with Vilanova a nose back in third.

Formerly trained by Donna Logan, Telepathic had two stakes placings to her credit including a second in the Group III Rough Habit Plate at Doomben as a 3yo.

A homebred for Gerry Harvey, Telepathic advances her overall record to 6 wins, 5 seconds and 2 thirds from 20 starts for earnings of $283,871.

"Telepathic has been really consistent and deserved a Listed win today," Waller said.

She was a well performed horse in New Zealand - it's good that Mr Harvey and Clare (Bird) sent the horse to me.

"We've had a bit of success bringing horses back from 2000m to a mile.

"It's only a two-week turnaround though. She can have a quiet time for the next fortnight.

"We'll just do a little bit less intense fast work. We'll still need to do a bit of fast work to keep her blood levels up.

"She'll go to the Villiers and be very hard to beat."

Passed in short of her $25,000 reserve at the 2012 NZ Bloodstock Festival Yearling sale, Telepathic is a daughter of the unraced Conatus mare Telepathy a half-sister to the stakes-paced Come On Cugat (King Cugat) and to the dam of Group II Pago Pago Stakes winner Sidereus and the Magic Millions Stayers Cup winner Velrosso.

Telepathy is out of the Sir Tristram amare Come On Klaire a three-quarter sister to Kaapstad from the great Eight Carat family.

Westbury Stud will offer a Postponed colt out of Telepathy at the NZ Bloodstock Select Yearling sale at Karaka in January.

Telepathic becomes the 32nd stakes-winner for Vinery Stud's stallion Mossman who tasted Group 1 success seven days ago with his start son Buffering.

Mossman (pictured) has six lots catalogued for the Magic Millions in January and a further four at the Inglis Classic Yearling sale.
