Winning Week for FBAA

Master Steed began a winning week for Federation of Bloodstock Agents Australia (FBAA) in Hong Kong last Wednesday.

He made short work of a restricted sprint with a powerful finish that will spur him to much better wins this season. Master Steed is a bold-striding son of Onemorenomore and he was a $36,000 buy for Damon Gabbedy of Belmont Bloodstock (FBAA) at the 2013 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.

Santa Rocks as a yearlingChristmas came early for connections of Santa Rocks at Canterbury on Friday when she won the TAB Rewards Hcp (1550m).

Santa Rocks was a $350,000 buy for Julian Blaxland's Blue Sky Bloodstock (FBAA) and Paul Messara Racing at the 2013 Inglis Easter yearling sale. The Fastnet Rock blueblood is the first Australian foal of USA bred mare Aussie Christmas (Johannesburg) who is a half-sister to USA Group 1 racehorse and sire Harlan's Holiday.

FBAA was also in the frame at Canterbury with Stravigo in the TAB More Than Just Winning Maiden (1100m).

The Stratum gelding is from Moonee Valley winner Rovigo (Choisir) who is owned by Victorian breeder Andrew Goulopoulos. Agent Tim Stewart (FBAA) purchased her for $75,000 at the 2011 Inglis Broodmare Sale.

"Tim has bought us some very nice mares and Rovigo throws outstanding types," Goulopoulos said. "She has a yearling filly by Stratum and a Sebring filly on the ground. She's at Swettenham Stud now and hopefully in foal to Toronado."

The Collingwood lawyer has been involved in the industry near on 40 years and raced Salamander who went down a nose to Hyperno in the 1979 Melbourne Cup. But there were plenty of highlights along the way for Goulopoulos and trainer Tommy Hughes with feature wins in the Turnbull Stakes, Toorak Hcp, Sandown Cup and C B Fisher Plate.
