The session topper on day one was this Exceed and Excel colt from Common Smytzer that was consigned for sale by Victorian based Ampulla Lodge.
He was no stranger to the sale ring having topped the 2015 Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale for Makybe when fetching $300,000 to the bid of Ampulla Lodge in partnership with renowned Kiwi pinhookers Ascot Farm.
Re-offered at the Gold Coast he made $800,000 when bought by George Moore Bloodstock / China Horse Club to be the most expensive yearling by his sire sold at the sale.
Kitchwin Hills also found the Inglis Great Southern a happy hunting ground with a Snitzel colt from Les Ry Leigh (USA) purchased down south for $75,000 from the Burnewang North draft being re-sold at Magic Millions for $350,000 to China Horse Club.
Champion European First Season Sire Zoffany (IRE) had only two youngsters in Book One and his colt from Green Mirage proved super popular fetching $300,000 for Coolmore when bought by Jadeskye Racing/ Gerald Ryan.
He was a modest Magic Millions National Weanling Sale purchase for $55,000 so turned a handsome profit!
Also generating more than $200,000 above their weanling purchase price were colts by Sebring from Chordata sold by Newgate Farm and Lonhro from Pilbara Sand sold Ampulla Lodge, while a filly by Fastnet Rock from Sarah Vee was also in that bracket sold by willow Park.
