Champion
trainer Peter Moody produced a blue-blooded son of More Than Ready (USA) from
the legendary Eight Carat (GB) family to win on debut at Sale on Sunday.
Two year-old colt Attenborough was easy in the market, but came with a determined
late charge to win by a nose in the 1200 metre juvenile event with the red hot
Godolphin favourite Medaille failing to place.
A $470,000 NZB Premier purchase from the draft of Cambridge Stud, Attenborough
is the second winner for Group II winning Rock of Gibraltar (IRE) mare
Lovetrista, a daughter of Group I winner Tristalove.
The Diamond Lover/ Tristalove branch of the Eight Carat family has produced
Group I winners Viscount, Don Eduardo, De Beers and Viking Ruler as well as
Tristalove and Diamond Lover themselves.
Attenborough has the look of the Eight Carat family and it will be no surprise
to see him win better races than he did today at Sale.
