Well ridden by Kerrin McEvoy she was always in contention from gate three and was too good in the run to the line scoring by three-quarters in the 1200 metre sprint of a length over the top weight Peeping.
Sultry Feeling (pictured Steve Hart) picked up stakes placings during her two and three-year-old
season which had prompted Gooree Stud to consider retirement however her
trainer James Cummings insisted she remain a racing prospect.
"This is one of the few that I've really kicked up and said this mare has a Group win in her, she's top class," Cummings said.
"She's got that toughness but also has that very elusive turn of foot which she showed first-up last preparation at Rosehill and she's showed it again today.
"She's beaten off very good horses in Peeping and Vergara and done it in good style.
"And I'm sure she'll throw a very good colt or filly one day."
Sultry Feeling has the overall record of four wins and three placings from 18 starts with prizemoney topping $320,000 and this Black Type win may not be her last.
"She's a really good mare fresh, loves the beach, and we virtually train her off it," said Cummings, who will look to space her races.
"The staff at home have done a terrific job to keep her a happy horse and ticking over."
The Group II ATC Birthday Card Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on Golden Slipper day is likely to be Sultry Feeling's next start before another three weeks into the Group II ATC Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Day Two of The Championships.
Sultry Feeling is a half-brother to Group III winner Swift Alliance and to the dam of Group II winner Rock Sturdy being the last foal of imported Silver Deputy mare Visual Emotion (USA), who died in 2012.
Sultry Feeling is the 109th stakes-winner for Coolmore's champion sire Encosta de Lago, who retired from service in 2014, his final small crop of foals born last year.
