Sebring Filly Stars at Adelaide MM

Media Release - Tuesday March 15
Figures soared across the board as a stunning filly by Sebring topped Day One of the 2016 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale at Morphettville on Monday night.

Sebring filly from Aussie CrawlThe top priced filly was purchased by leading Victorian based bloodstock agent Sheamus Mills and will head to Cranbourne to join the stable of Mick Kent, who won the Group II ATC Phar Lap Stakes last Saturday with Sebring gelding Hattori Hanzo.

"I thought she was the best yearling in the sale - filly of colt," Mills said.

"The stallion is flying at the moment and she has a good pedigree behind her.

"She's from a Redoute's Choice mare and he'll be a champion broodmare sire for the ages I'd say."

"She ticked all the boxes, as they say," Mills added. "She was Mick's star pick of the sale and he's delighted to get her."

The Sebring filly is from the Redoute's Choice mare Aussie Crawl, a two time winning daughter of former Adelaide based group winning juvenile Freestyle. She was offered at the auction by Goldin Farms.

The top priced colt of the night session was $195,000 for the Written Tycoon-Zoccoletta youngster from the Baramul Stud who sold to McEvoy Mitchell Racing.

"He's come off Baramul so he's had a good start to his life," Tony McEvoy said. "He's got great bone on him, tremendous depth of muscle and a lot of power through his core."

"I love when he was walking to me, the power through him. He's an up and going two-year-old."

"He'll be there in the spring and then he'll be there for the big dance in the two-year-old races when you need those two-year-olds."

Day One of the sale rounded out with a gross of $3,865,500, average price of $51,540 and median price of $40,000 - those three figures rose massively on last year's opening session - 65%, 47% and 60% respectively.

The clearance rate also rose on 2015 and finished tonight on 82 per cent during a day in which seven yearlings sold for $100,000 or more.

"It's been the most amazing start to a sale in a very long time," Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said. "The numbers are well up - around 50 per cent up already, which is just spectacular."

"Hopefully we can hold the numbers for tomorrow and we're really looking forward to getting into it tomorrow," Cox added.
