Trifecta for Redente

Media Release - Friday April 22

It is no mean feat for a stallion to sire a trifecta, especially when said stallion is a horse who has only ever served small books of mares, so to do the job he really has to prove an upgrader.

RedenteWhich is exactly what the unraced but regally bred Redente is, the son of Redoute's Choice and Stella Cadente overcoming the odds to prove himself a stallion worthwhile of attention.

And he is getting that now, breeders enthusiastically supporting him last spring with 80 mares when the most he had served in previous seasons was just 49.

What breeders want is results and Redente is getting them - his latest success an Albury trifecta on Thursday, his three-year-old son Grey Strike jumping fast and leading throughout to record the second success of his seven start career.

And challenging him gamely were Redente's four-year-olds Cheeky Chinchilla and Why Do We Do It.

"It is very satisfying to see Redente record his own bit of history at Albury," said Russell Osborne who stands the bay at Riverbank Farm, Benalla.

"He has been somewhat of a quiet achiever but people are really starting to take notice of him now and we are looking forward to welcoming another nice group of mares to him this spring."

At $3300 one of the best value stallions in the state, Redente has sired 24 individual winners from his limited opportunities.

Siring runners who show plenty of natural pace, Redente has also been represented by recent winner Stella The Boss who has led throughout to win her last two in dominant fashion - proving 5 3/4 lengths too fast for her rivals at Ballarat in mid-March before saluting by 1 1/2 lengths at Sandown a couple of weeks later.

Billabong Babe has been another good performer for Redente, the Russell Osborne trained filly winning at Moonee Valley last spring whilst her stable mate Squeaky Squirrel is close to another win after two eye-catching runs this time in.

A 3/4 brother to the Gimcrack Stakes winner Brilliant Bisc and a full brother to the stakes placed Starfish, Redente is out of the Group One winner Stelle Cadente whose grandam is the wonderful mare Eau D'Etoile, Group Three winning dam of the big race winners Filante, Kenny's Best Pal and Bint Marscay.
