The
open three year-old event at Flemington on ANZAC Day was won by fast finishing
Hinchinbrook gelding Un de Sceaux, a $51,000 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale purchase
from the Yarraman Park draft.
A winner first up at the provincials for the Todd Balfour stable, Un de Sceaux
was not far away in two subsequent runs and produced a career best performance
to charge home and win this 1400 metre assignment by a long head.
A horse of real promise, Un de Sceaux has now won three of eight starts earning
close to $80,000 for his lucky group of owners.
Bred and offered for sale by Yarraman Park, Un de Sceaux is the first winner
for Cape Cross (IRE) mare Cross Dresser (NZ), a grand-daughter of Group II
winner Tristabelle from the family of champion 2YO and Golden Slipper winner
Dance Hero.
The Champion First Season Sire last season, Hinchinbrook leads his peers again
this year and has sired the winners of over $3.4 million since August 1, which
is more than twice the amount of his nearest rival.
Hinchinbrook has had a fee increase this spring and will stand at $38,500.
