Third Stakes Performer for So You Think

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 26
John McArdle harbours Oaks aspirations for his So You Think filly Smart As You Think, who rattled home for third in the Listed VRC Anzac Day Stakes at Flemington on Monday.

Smart as You Think as a yearlingThird on debut at Sandown at the start of the month, Smart As You Think confirmed her potential when charging home after being held up to finish a gallant third beaten just over two lengths by promising gelding Throssell.

A $260,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Coolmore draft for Slade Bloodstock, Smart as You Think is bred to excel over a trip being from Giant's Causeway (USA) mare Satirical Lady, whose dam is by Rainbow Quest.

Smart As You Think is typical of what we are seeing from the So You Think stock in that their last furlong is invariably their best.

Watch the videos and you will see what I mean, they find the line.

Of the 10 Southern Hemisphere runners he has had to date, seven have run in stakes races – Gold Rush won a Group II New Zealand, Conscious and Smart as you Think are both stakes-placed at Flemington, Rivo Boy was fourth in the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes and Too Fast for Love was fourth in the Inglis Nursery won by Blue Diamond winner Extreme Choice.

So You ThinkLa Diosa is a winner in New Zealand and Inference made a fast finishing debut second last week at Sandown.

Whatever way you look at it, So You Think is doing probably just what his fans had hoped he might.

We are at the back end of the season and this is his time. This is when we expect so see the sort of smoke that may become fire by the spring.

One of the most popular racehorses of recent times, people want to see So You Think succeed and if you are cheering him on, you can afford to be encouraged by results to date.

He stands at Coolmore this season at a fee of $49,500.
