New Kids on the Block

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday April 27
The 2016 Inglis Australian Select Weanling Sale this Sunday at Newmarket marks the first weanling sale of the season and as such will give investors their first look at the progeny of the next wave of young sires, our 'new kids on the block'.

Some 16 first season sires are represented with significant drafts by Dawn Approach (IRE), Declaration of War (USA), Eurozone, Sizzling and War, while high profile horses such as Zoustar, Shamus Award, Epaulette, Dundeel, Unencumbered, Fiorente (IRE) and The Factor (USA) are represented and hold plenty of interest.

A Foal Gallery star last year when he caught the eye of many as one of the first born for his four time Group I winning sire Dawn Approach (IRE), this chestnut colt from Faking has certainly kept growing and developing the right way for Ashleigh Thoroughbreds.

He will be offered as Lot 47 by Southern Cross Breeders and is from a Snitzel half-sister to stakes-winner Yourein.

Widden Stud's Cox Plate and Australian Guineas winner Shamus Award has three lovely fillies catalogued, all in the Platinum Session and all with images as below.

Lot 10 Filly Shamus Award x Alternative Edge - Davali Thoroughbreds

Half-sister to eight winners including Group II winner Vintedge and stakes-winner Youths Edge.

Lot 60 Filly Shamus Award x Holly Go Lightly – Blue Gum Farm

From stakes-placed Holly Go Lightly, a half-sister to multiple Group I winners Niconero and Nicconi.

Lot 80 Filly Shamus Award x Mossarama – Holbrook Thoroughbreds

From a three-quarter sister to million dollar earner Staging, the dam of Group I winners Duporth and Excites, Group II winner Tickets and the dam of Group I winner and promising sire Delago Deluxe.

Shamus Award is not the only Group I winning Snitzel son in this grouping as Newgate Farm's Sizzling has six youngsters on offer including the filly below.

Offered by Fairhill Farm as Lot 35, she is from Group III placed Clevedon.

Jindera Park will offer the only weanling in the sale by Melbourne Cup winner Fiorente (IRE).

Lot 187 is a colt from Dance on the Wind, a half-sister to Group II winner Walk on Air.

Blue Gum Farm will offer four attractive youngsters by their royally bred More Than Ready (USA) stallion War including Lot 30 from stakes-placed Scenic (IRE) mare Carmenesque.

He is a half-brother to six winners headed by stakes-winner Umaquest, the dam of promising filly Yattarna, winner of the Group III ATC James Carr Stakes at Randwick.

Darley's dual Group I winner Epaulette has two eye-catching fillies.

Lot 147 Filly Epaulette x Irgunette – Middlebrook Valley Lodge

From Group II placed Irgunette, the dam of three winners including Macau Guineas place-getter Wr Affair.

Lot 118 Filly Epaulette x Ta Ta Tatiana – Holbrook Thoroughbreds

From stakes-winner Ta Ta Tatiana from the family of stakes-winners Maha Chakri and Whittington.
