After purchasing a 50 percent interest in the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum homebred
Sent off an odd-on favourite after a last start win at Sandown, Rageese (photo Grant Courtney) did not give his supporters any concern when racing clear to win by four and a quarter lengths from Battle Brewing with Serenade a half-length back in third. Now two for two for trainer Darren Weir, Rageese was among the top two-year-olds in the nation last year after finishing runner-up to fellow Street Cry (IRE) colt Pride Of Dubai in the Group I ATC Sires' Produce Stakes and to Tarquin in the Group II Pago Pago Stakes.
Third in the Group II Stan Fox Stakes and fourth in the Group I Golden Rose, Rageese was a solid fifth in Press Statement's Group 1 Caulfield Guineas but failed in the Group II Australia Stakes and Group II Autumn Stakes after which he was switched to Weir.
The handsome colt is the second foal of the lightly raced Dehere mare Rabsha a great-granddaughter of the champion racemare Emancipation.
Rabsha has an unraced 2yo Al Maher colt named Moomayeeza and a colt foal by O'Reilly.
She was bred back to Fastnet Rock last spring.
