While Darley stallion Helmet has exploded from the blocks with four winners from six starters in Europe, his first Australian winner was a somewhat more low-key affair with Tarnhelm opening his winning account at the first time of asking with a 4-length romp at Dalby on Saturday.
Trained by Lindsay Hatch at Toowoomba, Tarnhelm led all the way to defeat Quite Magical (Magic Albert) and Liberty Jane (Snippetson).
Sent off an odds-on favourite at his debut, Tarnhelm failed to meet his $100,000 reserve at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale when offered by Banchory Thoroughbreds.
