Just three days after the Kentucky-based Spendthrift Farm celebrated the win of Redouble at Canterbury, the iconic farm struck again with another 2yo son of Redoute's Choice, the $725,000 purchase Swear in the valuable Blake's Marine Claret Stakes (1300m) at Hawkesbury on Saturday.
Like Redouble, Swear is trained by Team Hawkes and was ridden by Christian Reith.
Making his career debut, Swear collected $92,000 for his neck defeat of Godolphin's Flow (Street Cry) with another three-quarter of a length back to Flow's stablemate Radcliffe (Lonhro) in third.
"He's done everything right, he travelled beautifully for Christian out the back," stable representative Tania Rouse said.
"In his trial here he hit the line really well and his last 200 (metres) today was terrific.
"We'll take him one race at a time and see how he's pulled up and make a decision from there (on a trip to Brisbane)."
Reith also believes the son of Redoute's Choice will make his mark in better races.
"He's got a lot of scope," he said.
"I really like him and think he will go a long way. It's onwards and upwards from here."
Bred by Paul Fleming, Swear (pictured as a yearling) was purchased by Spendthrift for $725,000 out of the Tyreel stud draft at the 2015 Easter Yearling sale.
He is the fourth foal and third winner for the stakes-winning Show A Heart mare Crossyourheart who was the Top filly on the 2006-07 NZ 2YO Free Hcp.
Now owned by Greg Perry after being sold by Tyreel for $480,000 at the 2014 Inglis Easter Broodmare sale, Crossyourheart has a yearling colt by Commands that was knocked down to G Mudgway / E Jusufovic for $100,000 at this year's Easter Yearling sale.
After foaling an All Too Hard filly, Crossyourheart was bred back to Stratum last spring.
Spendthrift has made a huge investment in Australia.
In addition to outlaying $3,375,000 on six yearlings in 2015 and a further $ 3,825,000 on eight yearlings this year, Spendthrift has set up a property in Victoria that stands four stallions, Can The Man (Into Mischief), Hampton Court (Redoute's Choice), Jimmy Creed (Distorted Humor) and Warrior's Reward (Medaglia d'Oro).
