A
full sister to dual Group I winner and promising young sire Zoustar, this filly
was in a class of her own at Gosford on Thursday.
Prepared by Chris Waller, three year-old Northern Meteor filly Ciarlet left her rivals in the cold when bolting away to win the 1100 metre maiden by more than
seven lengths as a short priced favourite.
Not beaten far finishing third and fifth at her first two starts in December,
Ciarlet has obviously come back a much stronger filly and will be worth
following into better company.
A $375,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the draft of Attunga Stud on behalf of Kulani Park for David
Redvers/ Chris Waller, she is owned by a syndicate headed by Qatar Bloodstock
in whose colours she runs.
Ciarlet is the second winner for Redoute's Choice mare Zouzou and is a full
sister to $1.4 million earner Zoustar, winner of the Group I ATC Golden Rose
and VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes.
Zouzou was purchased by Coolmore at the 2014 Magic Millions National Broodmare
Sale for $775,000 and was exported to Ireland last year.
Her last Australian bred foal, a yearling colt by All Too Hard was sold by
Coolmore at Magic Milliosn this year for $160,000.
